More than 1,500 people have applied for the Baltic Unity Race “Heartbeat for the Baltics” on the first day

Registration for the Baltic Unity Race “Heartbeat for the Baltics” was started on August 6 at 11:00, and more than 1,500 people have registered throughout the Baltics during the day, including public organizations, families with children and well-known people. The most active registration takes place in Latvia.

The President of Latvia Valdis Zatlers, the Ambassador of Estonia Jāks Jērīts, the Ambassador of Lithuania Antanas Valionis, the singer Marija Naumova, the well-known bobsledder Zintis Ekmanis, the Chairman of the Board of JSC Latvijas Gāze Adrian Dāvis, the Director of the Latvian Disaster Medical Center Mārtiņš Šics, strongman Agris Kazeļņiks, as well as many other well-respected athletes, artists, doctors, journalists and educators.

“Heartbeat for the Baltics” is a 24-hour race along the historic Baltic Way, which will mark the twentieth anniversary of the Baltic Way on August 22 and 23 in all three Baltic States. The 678-kilometer route is divided into 1 km relay stages, and everyone in the Baltics is invited to take part and run their own kilometer for Baltic unity. The “Heartbeat for the Baltics” is happening to once again feel the unity of the Baltic States, to recall the common struggle for freedom and to prove the viability of our national consciousness.

It is possible to register for the race on the campaign website www.baltijascelam20.lv , where a detailed race map is published, the route and the time marked in kilometers will be marked at each of the relay change points. You can also get more information, as well as register online for your kilometer in the campaign information tent at the Freedom Monument created with the support of the Latvian Mobile Phone. The tent will be open until August 23 every day from 10:00 to 22:00.

On Thursday, August 6, the registration for the Baltic Unity Race “Heartbeat for the Baltics” started, and the President of Latvia Valdis Zatlers, the Ambassador of Estonia Jaak Jõerüüt, the Ambassador of Lithuania Antanas Valion singer Marija Naumova, well-known bobsledder Zintis Ekmanis, Chairman of the Board of Latvijas Gāze Adrians Dāvis, writer Inga Ābele, balloon pilot Gunārs Dukšte, actor Juris Kalniņš, journalist Elita Veidemane, director of the Latvian Disaster Medicine Center Mārtiņš Šics, as well as many respected athletes, artists, doctors, journalists, educators.

The 678-kilometer route is divided into 1 km relay stages, and everyone in the Baltics is invited to take part and run their own kilometer for Baltic unity. “We invite people to put down their business, leave the house and run – out of respect for history, out of duty to tomorrow and out of love for their land,” said LOF representatives Jānis Lazdāns and Pēteris Apinis, starting the registration of participants.
